the Oak Cliff Flamenco Festival

Held in the Fall, the Oak Cliff Flamenco Festival (OCFF) is a seven day Spanish cultural event with workshops, dancing, music, cinema, a paella cookout, fashion show and art exhibit.  Outdoor events are free, making them affordable for those who may have never experienced flamenco before.  Community funding is crucial, without sponsors, we would have to charge admission,  denying the Hispanic citizens of South Dallas their identity, as their neighborhoods, like Oak Cliff, are being gentrified

Ironically, this art of the downtrodden, is mostly presented in theaters, where the people who could benefit from its uplifting qualities, cant afford to go. The OCFF engages fans on a personal level. The public is welcome to spontaneously join in the fun.   The festive environment unites Oak Cliff’s Latino heritage with the "newcomers", retaining its cultural identity.  The festival employs more than a dozen local musicians, providing opportunities for Dallas based dance studios and guitarists to collaborate.

Each year more than 25 local businesses, dozens of local artists, and up to 8 internationally recognized dancers, guitarists, and the rare singers that make the art form possible.
